[Tutorial] How to Jailbreak your iDevice

I thought of writing a tutorial to jailbreak and unlock your idevices, covering every
information possible.

1st thing, You should know what you want to do
1. Jailbreak
2. Jailbreak and unlock (To use other carrier )

I am mentioning about the latest version IOS4 only, if you need help with older version pm me/MacaronyMax

Things you need to know before jailbreaking and unlocking :
1.Know your idevice.
2.Know your firmware version (go to settings/general/about/version)
3. Your model number: (go to settings/general/about/model)

Please note :
Some jailbreak tools are only used for older manufactured devices .
For 3G[S] users use this tool (idetector) to know if your device is old boot rom or new boot rom;

For unlockers : iPhone3G/3G[S]/4
If you have an updated device or if you have directly update from iTunes to 4.1 then I am sorry to say but ultrasn0w wont be able to unlock your idevice.

When you update your phone from iTunes to a stock official firmware your baseband gets updated.
If you need an unlock never ever update your iDevice from iTunes.

Use tools like tinyumbrella,pwnage tool,or snowbreeze.

The above tools will help you to preserve your baseband.

If you are on firmware<4.1 then use pwnagetool (mac users) and snowbrezze (windows users)
