After super hit movie, Anne Curtis clinches Gold for album

It has only been days since her latest film, “No Other Woman,” was declared the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time, yet the multi-faceted Anne Curtis conquers another front: music.


Anne Curtis is now a 'profitable' recording artist

The "diva" earns her first-ever Gold Record Award for debut album, “Annebisyosa” – this, barely a month after its release.

MG Mozo, Assistant General Manger for Production and Marketing of Viva Records, gave the award to Curtis in simple ceremonies on “ASAP Rocks,” Oct. 16. The actress, TV host and singer received the award after performing a version of “Bizaare Love Triangle” with Erik Santos and Jericho Rosales, and “Tinamaan Ako,” both from her album.

Obviously surprised by the recognition, Anne burst into tears upon accepting the plaque even as she profusely thanked fans who have supported her recording venture.

“Thank you sa lahat ng bumili ng album ko, sa lahat ng pumila sa mall shows ko, thank you, dahil sa inyo meron na akong ganito [Gold Award],” she said tearfully, maskara streaking her cheeks.

Anne didn’t forget to thank her recording company, the producers and songwriters. She also thanked the record stores because “pumayag [sila] ibenta ang album ko.”

Curtis’ talent in singing came to fore on “Showtime,” where, whenever possible, she would allow for snippets of her favorite tunes,

most famously, Heart’s “Alone.” It was during those times that Curtis would make much ado about her “dream” of being able to record an album someday---which took more than a decade to come.

Curtis started her showbiz career in 1993. Her first TV appearance was a hosting stint in the now-defunct children's show, "Kidsongs."

Although she would go on to perform song and dance numbers on a regular basis in different variety shows, Curtis, through the years,

mainly kept her focus on acting. She would eventually make her mark in "Baler" for which she won best actress in the 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
